Night Lights Holly
Night Lights is a different animal in the holly world. It matures into a pyramidal tree that looks more natural than most hollies. This less formal appearance makes it suitable for many uses, full to ground screens, muliti-stem specimens and even small-medium evergreen shade trees. The leaves are not prickly, and at a glance are shaped somewhat like a cherry laurel. The new foliage comes out a pleasant pink-purpleish color and matures to a nice medium green. The flowers are not noticeable from a distance, but up close they are a very pretty purple- the only holly species without white flowers- and thus the name Ilex 'purpurea'. This one of the most exciting hollies on our nursery.
