Canaertii Eastern Red Cedar
Not just another conehead, Canaertii Red Cedar comes equipped with extra personality. While maintaining the typical proportions of an evergreen screening tree, the outline of Canaertii becomes more interesting over time; more fluffy as a young tree and then, with time, a unique profile as the branch tips extend like arms, waving and opening, to greet you. The effect is not so exaggerated as a Hollywood juniper, but is more than enough to break the monotony of green slabs often encountered in the landscape. Though Juniperus virginiana 'Canaertii' can be difficult to purchase on the East coast, it has been planted regularly in the Midwest for years and can be found growing in a variety of conditions from Zone 3 down into Zone 9.
