Cornerstone European Hornbeam
For years we have sold ‘Cornerstone’ as a standard form and we are excited to release this first ever group of multi-stem trees. Cornerstone European Hornbeam will become round-headed over time. This round shape is refreshing among the European clones. Also, the handsome leaves are darker green than other types. Like its sister tree 'Brownstone,' the parent tree was originally grown from seed collected by the National Arboretum. The final selection was made by renowned researcher, Will Corley, in Middle Georgia and it exhibits the best heat tolerance of the species. Carpinus betulus ‘Cornerstone’ is another introduction, exclusive to Bold Spring Nursery.
