Pinus echinata (full to ground)
Shortleaf Pine
This fast grower makes a good screen in youth, becomes an overstory tree with time. A colonizer on its own accord, this tree accepts dry, poor soils, and full sun and has the widest range of any pine in the southeastern US. Durable- along with with Long Leafed Pine, one of two southern pines capable of living 400-500 years.
